Staying Safe and Cool with PSR Arizona’s ‘Building Resilient Neighborhoods’ April 29, 2024

For more than a decade, PSR Arizona’s Building Resilient Neighborhoods (BRN) has kept Tucsonans safe from the heat through both Zoom and in-person workshops. Two-to-three hours in length, with workbooks for attendees and breakout sessions for generating ideas and solutions, the focus is on surviving the summer heat as a united, caring, prepared neighborhood.

Today, as climate change has settled into the day-to-day of our lives, having the tools and knowledge to confront the new weather reality is a necessity that is, to date, lacking in most communities, even in the desert. BRN is and has been the exception.

We’d like to take our sun hats off to the hardworking members of the BRN team, Jacqueline Day, Margo Newhouse, Mary Gresham, and Barbara Warren. Shown above, residents of South Tucson take part in a recent BRN workshop. Read more about BRN in this Arizona Star Op-Ed.

Interested in having a BRN workshop for your neighborhood group or HOA? They’re free—and they can save lives. Contact Barbara Warren for information.
