Yet today\, radium-bearing waste water\, as Mr. Nobel writes\, is transported along America’s highways in u nmarked trucks\; handled by workers who are often misinformed and under pr otected\; leaked into waterways\; and stored in dumps that are not equippe d to contain the toxicity.
